New mobile feeder for RMC Aggregates 24
November 2004
RMC Aggregates East Leake sand and gravel quarry
in Nottinghamshire has recently taken delivery of a heavy-duty,
tracked mounted, hopper feeder from E.H.Hassell & Sons of Stoke
on Trent.
This high specification tracked machine which was developed by
Hassell in collaboration with RMC Aggregates is designed to feed
material on to conventional field conveyors, offering instant
manoeuvrability against the traditional use of skid-mounted
machines which are towed into position as required.
The hopper feeder has been custom designed to meet exact site
conditions, it can move quickly and safely around the site and
offers a choice of controls – remote radio control, remote by
umbilical cord or manual lever bank
In contrast to its predecessor installed at Hanson Aggregates,
Bulls Lodge operation, the HDFS 1200 supplied to RMC Aggregates
has a lined hopper with a capacity of 6 tonnes and includes an
integral Finedoor 2.8m x 2.0m two-deck, heavy-duty grizzly
screen complete with a bottom woven wire mesh panel.
The machine also features a 1200mm wide feeder belt with a
maximum output of 250 tonnes per hour. The 11kw feeder drive is
powered by a Rossi motor gearbox utilising three-phase mains
electricity, feeder drive is also by three phase electricity,
whilst the track drive is diesel-hydraulic, powered by a Cummins
engine.
As health and safety issues are a high priority in the Industry,
the machine supplied provided good all round access at height,
for inspection and maintenance, negating the use of portable
ladders.
The HDFS 1200 is the second addition to an expanding range of
tracked mounted feeders that Hassell are currently producing.
Following the successful delivery and installation of an HDF
1600 machine to Hanson Aggregates Bull’s Lodge operation last
September, Colin Atkinson-Unit
Manager at Bulls Lodge commented “since its installation last
September we have had no problems, it is the best performing
piece of kit we have ever purchased.”
